HISTORY OF OKCMAR FOUNDATION

The OKCMAR Foundation was founded out of a need to help those devastated by the
Moore Tornado and has grown into an organization helping to change the face of housing
for those in need in our community.

How we got here?
Immediately following the Moore tornado, OKCMAR received phone calls from other
REALTOR® associations around the country, wanting to know where to send money to help.
At the time, OKCMAR did not have a 501(c)(3), so OKCMAR directed the funds to the
state nonprofit entity. Donations poured in from across the country to the state foundation
that was distributed directly to aid those in need in real time. The overwhelming support
made us realize the need for our own 501(c)(3) and the OKCMAR Foundation was born.
Thanks to the OKCMAR leadership and their desire to do good, the Foundation has raised
funds to help organizations throughout our community. The Foundation has participated
in the past with local housing organizations like “Rebuilding Together” to help caulk, paint
and weatherproof homes for people in need.
This year through our “Tools for School” program the Foundation collected and
donated thousands of dollars of supplies and funds to help the lowest performing
school in the OKCPS district. We have partnered this year to be the headline sponsor
for the Neighborhood Alliance of Central Oklahoma Good Neighbor Awards banquet,
recognizing those helping to build strong neighborhoods in our community.
The Foundation continues to donate money to REALTOR® associations in areas that have
been targets of past disasters, like hurricanes, floods, fires and tornadoes.

Moving Forward
The Foundation is proud of the work it has accomplished to date and looks forward to
embracing a renewed mission and focus:
The OKCMAR Foundation is the community resource for changing the face of housing in
central Oklahoma, through compassionate support, education and the advancement of
homeownership.
We are now forming partnerships with organizations who share our goal: housing and
community development. The Oklahoma City Continuum of Care is dedicated to providing
transitional and permanent supportive housing for those in need and the Foundation
is coming alongside them to expand their services. We will also continue to support
community development by partnering with the Neighborhood Alliance of Central
Oklahoma and central Oklahoma schools.
OKCMAR Foundation has grant applications for local groups to apply for funds. For more
